Hello I am Gail Rosenbloom Kaplan

Glass, Sand, Mixed Media, Community Installations

GRK
Hello

I am a working artist
in Detroit, Michigan

I am known as the artist in the blue smock.

I bring artistic vision, sophisticated style and skills honed over decades into the studio and the community at large.

Looking for a unique experience at a fundraiser or corporate event?

I help clients to bring their ideas to life- as they create personalized pieces of art or come together to make large-scale mosaic and sand art installations.

I have the experience and knowledge to empower others to explore and find their inner talent. Every piece is a guaranteed success!

I have worked with school districts, public libraries, community and senior centers, hospitals, nonprofits, and more.

Accomplished artist and outstanding teacher, Gail Rosenbloom Kaplan will bring another dimension to your project.  Under her direction, 3rd through 8th grade students at MPA created a beautiful and meaningful mosaic based on their studies of the state of Michigan. Gail incorporated the students’ original drawings into the final design, and taught them how to cut glass, adhere the glass, and more. The kids worked happily and with pride to bring the final piece to life- It was a memorable experience for everyone!

The short version- Gail is fantastic! There is no end to her imagination, creativity and capacity to work with others.

My daughter Julie loved her years singing with the Bells music group at the Bloomfield Hiils High school. Bringing the community together to create this installation in her memory  for the entrance lobby of their new building was a thrill and we could not have done it without Gail’s creativity and vision.

Artist Gail Kaplan is an artist who cares for children. She engaged all the students of Pasteur Elementary School in creating an enormous mural for the main branch of the Detroit Public Library. From discussing with them what it is to be an artist, to figuring out mathematically how many pieces of glass would be used, to actually gluing in the pieces. She helped everyone feel that they were a part of something important.  The children can show their grandparents and grandchildren their permanent installation in this important public space.

Gail walks into my isolation room pushing a cart heaped up with art supplies and introduces herself. She is smiling, confident, not acting nervous of my illness, I immediately like her. I really enjoyed her company and creating mosaics and sand art that I could frame or wear and be proud of. I even entered a piece of art in the hospital art show and won! That’s how amazing of a teacher she is. Not only is she an amazing artist but she is so devoted to the patients at the hospital, always so attentive making sure everyone’s art piece was completed and perfect. She inspired me, motivated me and gave me the self-confidence that when I graduated from high school I enrolled in graphic design at Eastern University. I graduated in 2019! Gail was the sunshine️ on some of the darkest days of my life, we are best friends/family forever.

From the day I met you, I knew something great was going to happen. You came to my life like a ray of sunshine. It was me you chose to lift to greatness. I am wishing you a shower of happiness for all of the smiles you put on people’s faces.
